Is Iron Flame Clean? Profanity and Content Guide for the Audiobook

Iron Flame is one of the heaviest books we've tagged, and the numbers make that obvious. Rebecca Yarros's sequel to Fourth Wing, the dragon-rider war college fantasy, runs a little over twenty-eight hours, and the filters remove nearly two and a half hours of it, almost nine percent. The single biggest driver is sexual content: 109 moments adding up to about an hour and 47 minutes, with 52 rated severe. The longest severe scene runs over twenty minutes on its own. Profanity is the next issue: 951 tags, 398 of them severe, adding up to about ten minutes. Violence contributes close to 27 minutes, eight moments severe. There are smaller amounts of romance, blasphemy, slurs and crude humor, but those three big categories are the story. Rebecca Soler and Teddy Hamilton narrate, and the cuts are frequent enough that you will notice them. Here is my honest recommendation. If you're an adult who loved the first book's world and wants to keep going without the explicit content, turn on Sexual Content and Romance at every level and Profanity at moderate and severe. You'll lose a lot of runtime, but the plot remains followable. I would not hand this to a teenager. Too much of the book is explicit for filters to make it appropriate, and even fully filtered, the skips make clear what was there. For a younger fantasy fan, I'd point them somewhere else.
