Is It Ends with Us Clean? Profanity and Content Guide for the Audiobook

I picked this up expecting the emotional gut-punch Colleen Hoover is famous for, and she delivers it, but the content load here is heavier than I anticipated going in. The story deals with domestic abuse at its core, and the book doesn't soften that. The violence segments are fewer in count than the profanity, but they run long. Chapter 14 alone has a severe scene that stretches past six minutes, and it is brutal in a way that earns every second of that runtime. That's not a flaw in the storytelling. It's the point. But it does mean you need to decide before you press play how much of that you want to hear unfiltered. The sexual content is the bigger footprint, just over an hour of the total filtered runtime, spread across mild, moderate, and severe tags. With filters on, you'll lose roughly that full hour across the listen, so figure on finishing closer to ten hours than eleven. Chapter One, covered in chapter two of the audio, comes in hot with 32 tagged segments, so you'll know within the first stretch exactly how the filters are working. My honest read: this is clean enough to listen with kids in the car only if you're running every category at maximum, and even then I'd call it a stretch. For adult listeners who want the original, cleaned up, running profanity and sexual content filters at moderate-plus gets you most of the way there. If you're sensitive to domestic violence content specifically, know the violence filter will catch the worst of it but the emotional weight of those scenes stays intact. That's the same book, same narrator, same story. Just less graphic.
