Is Disquiet Gods Clean? Profanity and Content Guide for the Audiobook

Disquiet Gods is the sixth book in Christopher Ruocchio's Sun Eater series, and if you've made it this far with Hadrian Marlowe, you already know what you're signing up for. I picked this up expecting the usual Ruocchio cocktail of grand space opera, Roman-inflected mythology, and the particular brand of brutal violence the series has always leaned into. That last one is the real story here. The violence category accounts for nearly forty minutes of filtered content on its own, with over a hundred moderate segments and fourteen severe ones. Chapter 37 has a single severe scene that runs three and a half minutes, and Chapter 60 is the busiest chapter in the book with twenty-two flagged segments. None of that surprised me given where the story is in the series, but it's worth knowing before you hand your earbuds to a younger listener. The sexual content is lighter than I expected for a late-series entry, though three severe segments add up to close to seventeen minutes total, so it's not nothing. Profanity is genuinely minor, and that lone severe slur count (thirty-four segments, all severe) is something the human-reviewed tagging caught consistently enough that filters should handle it cleanly. My recommendation: if you are a Sun Eater fan who has been listening to the earlier books filtered, this is the same book, same narrator, same story with the rough edges smoothed out. Turn on violence filtering at moderate-or-above and sexual content at mild-or-above and you can finish the book without interruption. If you are brand new to the series, start at book one. This is not the entry point.
