Moderate

Noticeable filtering across one or more categories. Comfortable to listen to with the right filters on.

10h 22m audiobook, 160 filtered segments, 2.7% of the runtime gets skipped at full strength.

I picked this up expecting a clever time-travel romance and got exactly that, plus a content profile that required me to pay closer attention than the premise suggested. The Ministry of Time is a genuinely good book, sharp and funny and emotionally specific, and most of what gets flagged here fits the story Bradley is telling rather than feeling gratuitous. That said, the numbers are spread across nearly every category, which is the thing I want you to notice before you hit play. Profanity runs mild-to-severe throughout, the blasphemy count is higher than you'd guess from the marketing, and the sexual content is where this book earns its Moderate verdict. Four severe segments in that category, with the longest scene in Chapter 17 running two and a half minutes. Chapter 11 is the single busiest chapter in the book at 33 tagged segments, so if you are sampling to decide whether to continue, that is not the chapter to use as your benchmark. The slur count is small but all ten segments are flagged severe, and the hate speech entries mostly connect to the historical material Bradley works into the plot. With profanity, sexual content, and slurs filtered, you lose under seventeen minutes total across ten hours. That is a light trade for what you get back. I would recommend this to readers who enjoy literary fiction with a romance spine and can handle moderate violence in context. Turn on all five major categories and you can finish the book comfortably. If explicit sexual content is a hard line even with filtering, this one is probably not worth the friction.
