Moderate

Noticeable filtering across one or more categories. Comfortable to listen to with the right filters on.

21h 50m audiobook, 582 filtered segments, 4.1% of the runtime gets skipped at full strength.

Morning Star is the finish line for the Red Rising trilogy, and I'll be honest with you: I picked this up expecting Pierce Brown to go darker in the finale, and he did. This is a war book in the truest sense, and the violence reflects that. At just over 21 hours, you're looking at about 53 minutes of filtered content spread across 582 tagged segments, which sounds like a lot until you realize it's 4.1% of the runtime. The same book, same narrator, same story. You're not losing the experience. You're trimming the edges.

The heaviest lift here is violence. There are 37 severe violence segments, and Chapter 47 holds the single longest severe scene at just over two minutes. Chapter 9 is the other one to know about, with 32 tagged segments clustered together. That chapter hits hard even in context, so heads up if you're listening with younger teens. Profanity runs throughout but skews mild to moderate, with only 13 severe instances across the whole book. The ten slur segments are all flagged severe, and those are worth filtering without question.

My honest recommendation: turn on profanity, slur, and violence filters and you can finish this on a long drive without a second thought. The sexual content is minor enough (13 segments, most of them mild) that the filter there is more preference than necessity. If you loved Red Rising and Golden Son and you've been waiting to close out the story, this is absolutely worth finishing. It's a great book, human-reviewed, and the filters let you decide exactly how much of the battlefield you want in your ears.
