Is Beach Read Clean? Profanity and Content Guide for the Audiobook

I picked this up on a long drive back from the coast, which felt appropriate, and I'll be honest: I liked it more than I expected to. Emily Henry writes the kind of romantic tension that actually earns its payoff, and the narrator makes the whole thing feel like a conversation with a very funny, very self-aware friend. That said, Beach Read is not a quiet book. The profanity runs throughout (94 segments, and a handful of those are the heavy ones), and the sexual content is where the real runtime disappears. Just under eleven minutes of intimate scenes are tagged, mostly clustered into a moderate handful that are explicit enough to matter if you are listening around kids or just prefer a cleaner version of the story. Chapter 14, titled The Olive Garden, is the chapter to know about. It packs 16 tagged segments into one stretch and is the single densest section in the book. I would not call it a dealbreaker if you have the right filters on, but it is worth flagging before you hit it in traffic. Every segment here is human-reviewed, so you are not guessing what gets caught. The good news is that at only 2.3 percent of total runtime filtered, this is absolutely a book you can finish. If you want the whole Emily Henry experience, same book, same narrator, same story, just without the parts that would make you wince at a red light, run profanity on high, sexual content on high, and you are set. Skip it entirely only if any sexual content is a hard no for you, filtered or not.
