Pierce Brown builds one of the most propulsive sci-fi worlds I've encountered in years, but he fills it with violence that earns every bit of its reputation. I picked this up expecting a YA-adjacent adventure and got something considerably darker by the time I hit the midpoint. The verdict here is Heavy, and that label fits. You're looking at over 51 minutes of filtered content across 582 tagged segments, with violence accounting for the bulk of the runtime cut. Chapter 36 has the single longest severe scene in the book, running over a minute of continuous content that most listeners will want skipped. Chapter 41 is the other one to watch, with 35 flagged segments clustered close together. It's not a wall exactly, but it's a gauntlet. The profanity count is high but spread thin enough that mild and moderate filters handle most of it. The 24 severe slur segments are human-reviewed and real.
