Is A Court of Silver Flames Clean? Profanity and Content Guide for the Audiobook

A substantial share of the book gets filtered, and most listeners will choose to skip a meaningful amount.

26h 5m audiobook, 522 filtered segments, 7.3% of the runtime gets skipped at full strength.

I picked this up knowing Sarah J. Maas does not write light romance, but A Court of Silver Flames still caught me off guard by chapter three. This is the steamiest entry in the ACOTAR series, and the numbers bear that out: sexual content alone accounts for nearly an hour and a half of filtered material, with 22 severe scenes scattered across the back half of the book. Chapter 26 has a single sequence running almost fourteen minutes that you will absolutely want to skip if you are listening with anyone in the car. Chapter 1 flags 27 segments right out of the gate, so you know exactly what kind of book you are in from the first few minutes. The violence is serious too, not gratuitous but genuinely intense in places, and the profanity runs steady throughout at all three severity levels. I quit tracking individual scenes around chapter 18 because the pattern is just consistent: quieter stretches, then a cluster, repeat. The good news is that the story underneath all of it is genuinely gripping. Nesta's arc is the best character work Maas has done in this world, and with AudioHaven's human-reviewed tags you can finish the book without losing the plot or the narrator's performance. You get the original, cleaned up. My recommendation: this one works well for adult listeners who want profanity and crude humor filtered but are comfortable leaving mild sexual content on. If you need severe sexual content off too, budget for roughly two hours of skips and plan longer listening sessions so the story keeps its momentum.
